1st ScotSail Training, part of the Largs Yacht Haven Based ScotSail Group has introduced this year RYA PowerBoat Courses, with its' acqusition of a new cruising powerboat at the recent London Boat Show. PowerBoat courses from one to three days will be available from June 2009, and are aimed at new loch users, those new to powerboating, and the more advanced RYA PowerBoat Level II (International Certificate of Competence) is available for more experience leisure boat users wanting to prove or hone their skills.Loch Lomond has seen an increase in waterbourne activities in recent years and this has not passed without controversy; each year people die or are injured on the UK's largest inland loch and there have been calls for greater safety awareness and training. The National Park Authority who have overall responsibility for Loch Lomond work in conjunction with local police resources to manage the waterway and enforce the byelaws, including the recent speed restrictions and compulsory lifejacket byelaws.ScotSail Group Managing Director Graeme Kerr has had years of experience on Loch Lomond, even before his time with ScotSail and hears a personal calling to bring the message of safety to others:"We want people to have a greater awareness of the dangers of any waterway, and to understand that our enjoyment of our natural resources in Scotland can be greatly enhanced by getting the knowledge of how to operate a boat in a safe and confident manner..."In addition to the RYA PowerBoat Courses, ScotSail will also be offering half day and full-day tours as well as custom charters to show people all that Loch Lomond has to offer.Visit www.ScotSailTraining.co.uk for further details.
